The Secure Trade Link™, Inc. DBA Securetradelink.com name implies security and
the Internet, two concepts that were thought to be mutually exclusive. The first portion of our business
concept involves an encrypted document delivery service that was instrumental in developing Activate Secure
Authentication System Courier Service™ (ASAS™), giving Internet Explorer and Netscape users the ability to
send documents in a secure environment, browser-to-browser. The second portion of our business concept is
the delivery of applications that utilize ASAS™ for the creation of:
- SecureTrade SecureSend (SSX)
- SecureTrade DigitalSignature (DSX)
- SecureTrade DigitalPrescription (DPX)
- SecureTrade DigitalCollaboration (DCX)
- SecureTrade DigitalManagment & archive (DMAX)
- SecureTrade VisualScheduling and Inventory (VSIX)
- SecureTrade PackageEngine(DPX)
Secure Trade Link, Inc. has two primary target markets, the government and
business. The most important characteristics of our products are that government and business can send
encrypted documents with digital signatures, browser-to-browser in complete and total security. To utilize
this service, users will need to have access to the Internet and be familiar with how to operate E-mail and
a browser. There are no software packages for users to install and maintain nor any of the costs associated
with deploying software to the desktop.
The industry has been quick to adapt the use of Public Key
Infrastructure (PKI) as a basis for securing business and every day communications. The
U.S. Government has been quick to create standards, such as the Health Insurance Portability
& Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 to govern the security of medical documents. The Department
of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has established a compliance date of April 21, 2005 with a
comprehensive set of security standards. It is felt that by implementing these security standards,
organizations will not only be in compliance with the law but will be in position to take advantage of
the next wave of technological innovations (Pieper, 2003, Abstract section, p. 20).
The General Services Administration has implemented a PKI structure to
manage digital identities and ensure proper secure communication measures are in place for emerging
technology. The current emphasis on national security is sure to have an enormous impact on the security
of networks and data. The need for secure industrial networked environments is growing as evidenced by the
following reference. An article published in the New York Times Newspaper on August 29, 2004 describes a
person who is freelancing the mapping of underground natural gas pipes in the New York City area because
the original owners are no longer publishing maps. Without maps, builders and excavators run the risk of
damaging any kind of underground piping or wiring; however publishing current maps with this information
is questionable given the risk of terrorism (Urbina, 2004, Late Ed., p. 1.29). ASAS™ system with secure
document retrieval for distributing of all legacy information would provide the necessary security. |
